Farsley Celtic could top the UniBond Premier Division tomorrow if they extend their eight-run winning streak and wobbling Workington slip again.

Second-placed Celts livened up life at the top last Saturday with a 2-1 win at leaders Workington.

The Cumbrians then slipped to a second defeat in the week when they were beaten 1-0 at Witton Albion on Tuesday. It was new boss Gary Finley's first home game in charge of Witton and he tasted victory for the first time, having suffered a 2-1 defeat at Gateshead on Saturday.

"That was their game in hand gone and there are just two points in it now but they have a better goal difference," said Farsley boss Lee Sinnott, who takes his side to Leek Town.

"They have hit a patch of rough water and we have clawed nine points back on them but there is a lot of work still to be done.

"I said last week that I didn't envy Workington because the leaders are there to be shot down and every game is a cup final.

"We are in the position where everyone we play wants to stop our record of straight wins in the league.

"Our players have got to want to win every game more than the opponents in front of us. That is a tough task and it all comes down to mental preparation for the games. We didn't have that in midweek when Thackley deserved to beat us in normal time of our County Cup tie. Hopefully that will be a warning to our players.

"We have had the rub of the green against Thackley and that has got the euphoria about the win at Workington out of the system."
