A delegation of commercial officers from British embassies in far-flung parts of the globe are among the latest international high-flyers to visit Bradford Chamber of Commerce.

Nadira Edwards-Lee from Guyana, Mette Sigvardt Kjaer from Denmark and Nick Coppin from Iran arrived at the Chamber's headquarters to find out more about the organisation's activities, particularly its international department.

During the visit, organised by the government-backed UK Trade and Investment, the trio were also given an insight into the workings of Chamber Management Services.

The Chamber hopes that exporters from Bradford will be able to tap into the relationship which has now been developed.

Mark Cartwright, the Chamber's policy executive, said: "We appreciated them taking the time to visit and it showed that they value the important work that Chamber Management Services is doing to support and advise businesses.

"The support that CMS provides is not just to companies in Bradford, where we are based, but to firms throughout Yorkshire and beyond.

"As Bradford is cited as the region's exporting hotspot, that adds more power to the elbow of CMS, which continues to grab headlines on its achievements."

He added that recent successes had included resolving commercial disputes worth more than £1 million via arbitration; putting more than 350 people each year through training to assist with international trade procedures; being ranked first in the Chamber network for online document transactions and implementing a national contract for the Chamber network on behalf of Customs & Excise.

"As well as the visit from UKTI officers, the Chamber has also been visited by officials from the British Embassy in Syria and the British High Commission in India and it continues to support exporters throughout the region who venture on trade missions.

"Exporting and importing plays an increasingly important part of business life and CMS will continue to look at new ways of supporting that development."

On Thursday Belgian trade commissioner Monsieur Frank Compernolle will be paying a visit to the Chamber.
