Tyersal crashed out of the West Riding County FA Challenge Cup when they were beaten 7-5 by Huddersfield League side Meltham Athletic.

Striker Andy Carlton, who scored four times against Hartshead in an earlier round, repeated the scoring feat against Meltham, but his efforts were in vain as Tyersal's defence failed to control the Meltham strikers.

The league will still have four representatives in the quarter-final stages, as Golcar United beat local rivals Bay Athletic 2-1, and Marsden from Division One edged out Premier side Ardsley Celtic 3-2. Brighouse Town and Lower Hopton secured their places last week.

Dudley Hill Athletic can now concentrate on gaining league points after losing 3-2 at Westbrook YMCA in the West Riding County FA Challenge Trophy. Phil Morton (2) and Simon McDermott scored for Westbrook while Jordan Missing netted Hill's consolation.

Tyersal's second string also bowed out of the competition after losing 3-0 at home to Carlton Athletic Reserves.

Wibsey's bid to open up a seven-point advantage over Premier Division title rivals Golcar United was de-railed after visitors Hemsworth Miners Welfare frustrated them in a goalless draw.

Third-placed Brighouse Town had Andy Yates (2) and Shaun Walsh on target in their 4-2 victory at Ovenden West Riding.

Dudley Hill Rangers, whose game at Salts was postponed, could only sit back and watch as their rivals for promotion from Division One gain victories.

Leaders Eastmoor, who have played two games fewer than Rangers, extended their lead to six points with a 4-2 home win over Wakefield City.

Farnley, who also have two games in hand of Rangers, moved to within three points after a 5-1 home success over Keighley Shamrocks.

The league's two highest-scoring teams, South Bradford and newcomers Kirkburton, continued their domination of Division Two.

Dale Taylor (2) and Chris McMahon scored for South Bradford as they beat Keighley Lifts 3-0.

Kirkburton showed their fighting spirit, coming from behind to beat Ventus/Yeadon 3-2.

Chris Naylor and Tony Hannan put Ventus/Yeadon into a 2-0 interval lead before Ryan Robinson (2) and Rob Barnes scored to give Kirkburton victory.

Salt Old Boys striker Declan Corby nabbed a first-half hat-trick to set the Old Boys on their way to a 3-2 home victory over Dynamoes. Phil Greening and John Busfield scored in the second half for Dynamoes.
