Darren Holloway has been knocked out of City's plans until March with a torn calf.

The right back, who was taken off just before half-time on Saturday, had his fears confirmed by a scan. He could be out of action for up to six weeks.

Colin Todd said: "The injury came on very quickly and it is a blow. He's torn the thigh muscle and will be missing for at least a month.

"We're going to have to change the defence a bit but unfortunately these things happen."

Ben Muirhead is also out of Monday's televised trip to Barnsley after receiving five bookings, but Todd is optimistic that Lewis Emanuel will have recovered from the knee problem which forced him to miss the Torquay game.

"I would be surprised if Lewis is not fit for next week," he said. "He wasn't quite ready on Saturday and there would have been no point in playing him and risking him breaking down. I left him out as a precaution and we're hopeful he will be all right for Barnsley, which will be another big game for us.

"It's another Yorkshire derby and being live on Sky gives us the chance to show people what we can do."

Barnsley are in action tonight at Brentford, who could stretch the gap between ninth-placed City and the last play-off spot to six points with a win.

Meanwhile, Todd is waiting to find out if his bid to borrow a Premiership striker has been successful.

He said: "I've left a message with the manager concerned and expect a response soon.

"But it was good to see both our strikers scoring on Saturday. I was pleased for Andy Cooke to get one in his second game, especially at home, and I hope it's the first of many."
