Liversedge and Thackley gained creditable away draws from entertaining games in the Northern Counties East Premier Division last night.

Thackley faced title-chasing Harrogate Railway and shared the spoils from a 3-3 goal-fest while Sedge held former Bantams boss Nicky Law's Buxton to a 1-1 stalemate - thanks to a late equaliser.

John Boyle's Thackley showed no signs of self pity following their exit from the latter rounds of the FA Vase on Saturday as they took the lead three times at Station View, only to be pegged back on each occasion. In the eighth minute, Adam Johnson rounded Railway keeper Lee Ashforth to open the scoring.

Harrogate hit back two minutes later with an Andy Shuttleworth free-kick.

Lee Reilly fired in Thackley's second in the 17th minute but Harrogate again got a quick response through Chris Haworth. Johnson hit the bar and Reilly had an effort cleared off the line before the interval.

Both sides had chances in the second half before another two goals in as many minutes on a thrilling night completed the scoring.

Thackley's Johnson netted from 20 yards in the 71st minute but Railway's Graham Marchent equalised with another stunning shot.

The first half at Buxton was goalless but that was no reflection of the pace and skill of another enthralling encounter.

Eugene Lacy's Sedge matched Law's home side for endeavour and desire.

Five minutes into the second half the Derbyshire outfit broke the deadlock following a disputed free-kick.

It was quickly taken and Mark Reed got on the end of it.

But with five minutes remaining, Sedge got their just desserts when Gareth Hamlet flicked on a cross and Wayne Crossley netted.
