A memorial plaque for two teenagers which was stolen from the spot where they were killed in a horrific car crash has been replaced.

Isaac Bishop and Chloe Benn, both 15, died after a stolen Peugeot 206 they were in smashed into a wall in Thornton, Bradford, two years ago. Fellow pupils at Thornton Grammar School had collected £800 to pay for the original plaque, which was attached to a planter in Kipping Gardens, off Thornton Road.

But the memorial was stolen last December, much to the horror of Chloe’s family and friends.

Janice Hutton, the funeral director for Chloe’s funeral, decided to replace the plaque after reading about the theft in the Telegraph & Argus.

Miss Hutton, who now runs Gateway Funeral Services in Birkenshaw with business partner Richard Arnold, said: “When we heard that the plaque had been stolen, both Richard and I, as parents ourselves, felt quite sickened for the family. To lose a child, however old, and whatever the circumstances, is a devastating experience for anyone. “We hope that by replacing the plaque, we have been able to bring some comfort once again to Chloe’s parents, sister and friends.”

Chloe’s mum, Lindsey Benn, said: “They have done a really good job and both me and Isaac’s mum and dad are really pleased. The plaque was back in time for what would have been Chloe’s 18th birthday.”

Chloe, of Market Street, Thornton, was a back-seat passenger in the car driven by Isaac, who was later found to have been over the drink-driving limit.
