Bradford teenagers have been testing their financial, legal and environmental know-how in a regional showdown.
Pupils, aged 14 to 17, at Hanson School, Bolton, yesterday took part in the West Yorkshire Young Consumers of the Year Competition 2010.
They were up against five other schools, representing Wakefield, Huddersfield, Halifax and Leeds for the contest hosted by Calderdale College.
The competition is run by West Yorkshire Trading Standards and is conducted in the style of the University Challenge quiz. The winning team will secure a place in the national finals held in Edinburgh in June. Bradford Councillor Val Slater, chairman of the West Yorkshire Trading Standards Committee, said: “This is a fabulous competition that allows students to learn about consumer rights.”
