Performing arts students have visited a Bradford primary school to help pupils get in touch with their creative sides.

The 17 dancers at Calderdale College, Halifax, performed for children at Keelham Primary School in Denholme Gate. They then led workshops, around the theme toys and games, to enable pupils to try out performing for themselves.

Keelham head teacher Debra Butler said: “It’s nice to be able to offer our pupils something a bit different. As well as being creative and entertaining, the show promotes an active lifestyle and that’s something we really want to encourage.”

This visit was the first the students, who are studying for a BTEC national diploma in performing arts, have made to a primary school.

Course leader Emma Hindley said: “The children have been very responsive and it’s been a big success. These workshops are a new departure and very rewarding. We will use funds raised from the tour towards our own educational trip to a West End show and to Pineapple Studios in London.”
