An all-female PR team has scooped a national industry gong for its work in promoting a business awards scheme that originated in Bradford.

The success of the team at Little Germany-based Approach PR comes hot on the heels of winning gold in regional awards held by the Chartered Institute of Public Relations in November.

Approach fought off other regional gold winners to clinch its first national award win with the CIPR Grand Prix award in business and corporate communications.

Approach secured the win for its work in publicising the Yorkshire Biz Awards through television, radio and newspaper coverage.

Stephen Waud, Yorkshire Biz Awards creator and fund director of the Bradford-based Business Enterprise Fund, said: “The Biz Awards are about celebrating business success. The team’s professionalism and ingenuity in handling the Biz Awards was exceptional and their consistent, high-quality coverage truly enhanced the credibility of the event.”

Company founder Suzanne Johns said: “Winning a national award for a campaign which we felt so passionately about and worked incredibly hard on is amazing. It’s been a fantastic 12 months for us in a difficult trading climate with recent new business wins, a regional PR award and after being judged the best of the best in the UK.”

  • The national award for corporate responsibility was won by Yorkshire Water’s One Million Green Fingers campaign co-ordinated by its Bradford communications team.
