Patients and residents of Bingley are being urged to drop in for a tour of their new £13m health care centre.

GPs are hosting an open day at Canalside health care centre at Kingsway on Saturday, February 6, from 10am to 1pm to show off the new premises, following its opening to patients on Monday.

Bingley Medical Practice and Springfield Surgery will be based at the centre and the extra space will allow them to expand health services for local patients, including those from Bingley hospital.

Dr Simon Gazeley, of Springfield Surgery, said: “The open day is a great opportunity for anyone to come and look round this wonderful building and talk to our staff about what services we can offer in the future, ask any questions and share any concerns.”

All patients from both practices will automatically transfer to the new health centre, so there is no need to re-register.

Dr Richard Newell, of Bingley Medical Practice, added: “The only things that change on February 1 are the practices’ addresses. People will still get their care from their usual team of receptionists, doctors and nurses.”

The open day will include demonstrations of how to use the new self-care rooms where patients can check their blood pressure, weight, BMI and use the internet facility to get healthcare information.

HALE, a voluntary organisation, will be offering advice on healthy lifestyles and there will be face painting and a treasure hunt for children.
