Two Gareth Raynor tries in two minutes sent jitters through the Bulls camp on Saturday night but the lessons learned from the previous week's collapse against Warrington ensured Brian Noble's side held on for a gutsy 42-24 victory over Hull at the KC Stadium.

Led by Paul Deacon - whose boot contributed 18 points - the Bulls blew Hull off the park to race to a

34-8 lead before Raynor's double strike with 20 minutes remaining conjured up some unpleasant memories.

"You are lying if you think that you don't worry it will happen again but there was a different mentality out there," said Noble.

"What helped us was recognising what to do when that happened. What we did was rip in. We laid the platform, found a kick and then got to the other end of the field.

"Sometimes we try to play out of those situations, which compounds it. Against Warrington we didn't touch the ball while they were scoring points. You need to find a way to stop the game and have a look at where you are and what you are doing. I think we did that pretty well in the second half."

The first half was all Bradford. Deacon's boot got things under way with two well-struck penalties before Brad Meyers, Brett Ferres and a 75-metre Leon Pryce scorcher kicked the Bulls clear.

Hull hit back through Gareth Carvell but Stuart Reardon and Karl Pryce crossed to keep the Bulls well in front and Raynor's double counted for nothing when Leon Pryce intercepted late on to cross for his second.

"We were really, really physical in that first 20," said Noble. "Some people who have been playing really well for Hull weren't allowed to.

"I am delighted for the players. With 13 games to go we are going to have to knock them off one at a time but Saturday's performance was pretty good.

"We are beating ourselves up because we let a couple of softies in but Hull are a talented team and they move the ball around well. Ask any other coach, to go there and do what we did was a great win.

"It is important that we back up our efforts this week against a very good St Helens team but I don't want to hide the fact that I am delighted with the win at Hull. Not many teams go there and do that kind of thing to them."
