SPORTING legend Freddie Trueman OBE visited Addingham to collect a charitable donation to the region's air ambulance service.
A long-time supporter of the Yorkshire Air Ambulance Charity, the celebrated cricketer and broadcaster called at Addingham Social Club on behalf of the charity to pick up a £300 raised at musical performances by a local band.
The Beerhouse Boys regularly play their mix of country and western, folk and other music to audiences in Addingham, and collect donations towards good causes.
The band recently held a musical evening at the Blue Bell pub in Kettlewell.
The event raised £200, which they added to donations raised at gigs in Addingham. A cheque was handed over to Mr Trueman by the group's leader, John Toothill.
The Yorkshire Air Ambulance helicopter, based in Yeadon, is funded entirely by charitable donations and costs around £1 million each year to operate.
It operates on average around four 'missions' each day, although it has been known to fly as many as ten a day.
Each mission costs around £340 to run.
