The gulf between the First and Second Divisions in the Bradford League is not that wide says Manningham Mills skipper Mahboob Hussain.

And he can back up that controversial statement by pointing out that his side has so far beaten Cleckheaton and Baildon in the Priestley Cup.

"We are looking forward to our all-Second Division quarter-final tie at Keighley," says Hussain with a smile.

"I think this season we have broken the ideology that First Division sides are a cut above. I mean there are some excellent First Division sides but there are also some beatable ones, as we have proved."

Mills' cup exploits have sent fresh confidence through the side because last weekend they beat high-flying Brighouse and Gomersal in the league.

"We have got strength in depth. We can bat right down the order," said Hussain. "Ninth and tenth-wicket partnerships have been helping out."

Mills travel to Salts tomorrow - another winnable game - but Hussain says: "Keighley and Brighouse will take some catching."

In Division One, Pudsey Congs have had a few days to get used to the fact they are no longer at the top of the table.

After failing to beat then bottom Bankfoot on Monday, Woodlands and Hanging Heaton leapfrogged them.

Congs host Spen Victoria, a side in

desperate need of a boost after being skittled out for 78 by Woodlands on Monday. They find themselves at the bottom of the pile.

Woodlands, having stemmed the flow of blood from their nosebleed, can stay at the top - if they beat fellow leaders Hanging Heaton in the match of the day. Baildon, who are also enjoying life in the right half of the table, entertain Cleckheaton.

In the other games, Bradford & Bingley meet Bankfoot, two clubs in desperate need of points, East Bierley host Saltaire, Farsley are at home to Pudsey St Lawrence, and Morley entertain Idle and the formidable Sri Lankan Dinusha Fernando.

In Division Two, there is a clash of the giants between Brighouse and Keighley, who are pulling away at the top of the table.

Undercliffe, in third place, have a tricky match at fourth-placed Bowling Old Lane.

Windhill, who can't buy a win, might fancy a crack at Esholt, who are a surprise side this season. Richard Whitehurst's team were expecting to be among the leaders but instead have struggled and won just once.

l Farsley Cricket Club will host the Costcutter Yorkshire Senior Trophy first-round match between the SDS Bradford League and the Airedale and Wharfedale Senior League on Sunday, starting at 1.30pm at the Red Lane venue. Refreshments and bar will be available at the game.
