City have the man in mind they want to replace Paul Henderson.

The club were expecting an answer today from the 24-year-old goalkeeper, who they have not named.

Colin Todd is keeping his cards close to his chest but said: "He has played at a good level and was transferred for decent money.

"The other keeper we were looking at had more experience but sometimes they like to keep their options open."

The new stopper will get an early chance to impress in pre-season because first-choice stopper Donovan Ricketts will be in America on international duty for Jamaica.

He may not return to Yorkshire until July 23, ruling him out of the first four of City's six friendlies.

Todd has switched his attentions to another left midfielder after losing patience with Bobby Petta.

But his striker search will not include former loan target Luke Beckett, who has been put on the transfer list by Sheffield United.

Beckett, who scored against City on the final day of last season for Oldham, was one of seven players made available by Blades boss Neil Warnock yesterday. They include former Bantam Danny Cadamarteri, which could prompt a move by his old club - if the Bradford-born frontman can guarantee his fitness.

But Todd has no intention of rekindling his interest in Beckett.

He said: "We tried for him for a loan last season but no more than that."
