Customers at a popular caf took the owners at their word when they invited them to their sun-kissed wedding.

Eighteen of them dug deep, spending nearly £2,000 a couple to join Roger Sutcliffe, 37, and 22-year-old Carol Hargreaves, who own Big Fellas Caf, in Cavendish Street, Keighley, when they married at Pathos Town Hall, Cyprus, on May 26.

Those customers who could not make the two-week trip instead sent the couple cards, which were taken to the Mediterranean island and read out at the reception which followed at the hotel where they all stayed.

Roger said: "I wanted to get married abroad, and we were talking about it in the caf when somebody said they would come out with us. It started from there.

"Some people who came out have never been abroad or on a plane before." Roger added: "We have been in the caf for three years in October. In that time we have built up a good relationship with Keighley folk and there were quite a few of them with us.

"They made a special effort to come for a fortnight to see us wed. We would really like to thank them for that. I am really chuffed about it," he said.

During the stay, the couple, from Utley, took photographs of the wedding and the assortment of cards, which they will put up in the caf.

Members of their family who made the trip included Roger's mother Eileen Whitaker, Carol's parents Janet Watson and John Hargreaves, as well as her step-mum and step-dad. The bride wore an ivory dress. Her bridesmaids were her 10-year-old twin sisters, Natalie and Nicola Watson, who wore lilac dresses.

Best man was Carol's brother Andrew Hargreaves.
