DOUGIE LAMPKIN is in America this weekend as the World Trials Championships takes its action to the US.

He is currently lying third in the championship, but his Honda-Montessa is making a bid for the American market where the leading two-stroke machines are banned from the retail market.

The competition is being held near Duluth, Minnesota, before returning to Europe the following weekend with a round in Andorra, in the mountains between France and Spain.

Graham Jarvis sent a clear warning to his rivals in the British Trials Championship.

Jarvis made it clear he wants the Colin Appleyard-sponsored title again, when he clinched victory at Tredegar, South Wales.

Although he is tied to the world series Jarvis is determined to compete in as many rounds of the British Championship as he can.

The Mitchell Trial should have been the second in the championship but the opener sank without trace to the 'Farmer's Friend', DEFRA.

Reigning champion Steve Colley and Scottish Six Day winner Sam Connor had to play second fiddle to the rampant Jarvis who signed off twelve marks under Colley.

Best of the Yorksire riders was James Dabill in sixth place followed by Michael Brown in eighth and Ian Austermuhle leading the final quartet of Mika Vesterinen, Liam Walker and Edward McIntosh.

With the dropping of the poorly supported Master Class the Expert class has grown in stature. It was Yorkshire dominated with Dan Thorpe holding off Sam Ludgate and Matthew Jones.

Due to the clash with the Youth national at Holloway there were no entries in that category in Wales. The Youth championship at Bracken Rocks yielded championship points for several local youngsters. On Saturday the C and D age group. Leyburn's Richard Sadler was runner-up in the 125cc Class C ahead of Burley's Edward Haley. Whitby's Jack Howell was seventh with Richmond's Richard Fraser ninth followed by Whtiby's John Chilton and Scarborough's Daniel Knaggs.

Jack Stones (Richmond) was ninth in the 80cc class while Kirbymoorside six year old Dan Peace fourth in the Class D.

On Sunday Jonathon Richmond and Halifax teenager Jack Challoner dominated Class B where Josh Sprintall was placed fourth and Louis Haley eighth. In the 125cc Class category Alexz Wigg was the winner but Roundhay's Zac Sherwin rode well to grab fifth place.
