Jamie Cunningham just failed in his bid to win the Yorkshire ABA Merit at Low Moor .

He lost to 17-21 to the eventual winner, Graham Hickey of Elland, in a close game. The Silsden PF star had qualified at Broughton Road, defeating Phil Anderson of Keighgley.

Jim Calvert of Cononley has also qualified for the Hills Supplies Yorkshire handicap finals at Brockholes on June 26. He beat team mate Alistair Keighley 21-18 at Gargrave.

Hebden Bridge, alias the Cross Roads team, took an under-strength squad to the Yorkshire Parks Inter-City event at Barkston Ash and reached the finals after wins over an equally weak Sheffield team and the home side.

Despite losing to the Heavy Woollen area they qualified to meed Bradford in the final at Thorner BC only to be thrashed by a much stronger team. 'Lucky' Les Foster won all four games on a day of success.

Yorkshire Parks champion, Stephen Pickles of Cross Roads, made his first entry into a Bradford Parks event and was successful when he teamed up with Margaret Wood, Low Moor, to win the Mixed Pairs league event at Lister Park. They narrowly defeated past winners Roman Hrebor and Pat Lonsdale.

The Veteran's Inter-District team continues on their way today with a game against Leeds. The home leg is at Devon and starts at 2pm.

In the Hebden League Cross Roads A still trail Hebden Royd Park in Division One, but have a game in hand. Cullingworth A lead Division Two with Haworth close behind. Cross Roads C continue to lead Division Three.

Cross Roads A saw their aspirations to the Halifax League title take a knock when they suffered a shock home defeat to closest challengers Elland C & BC, who took revenge after being beaten by Cross Roads the previous week.
