Wins on both Saturday and Bank Holiday Monday saw Keighley move to the top of the Bradford League Second Division.

Yeadon were visitors to Lawkholme Lane on Saturday in an important top of the table clash. Batting first, Yeadon crashed 41 in the first six overs but just as they threatened to cut loose, Richard Robinson opened his box of tricks to put a halt on proceedings.

He stifled the Yeadon innings to a point where Keighley began to have the upper hand. Stand-in skipper, Ross Towler, claimed the important scalp of John Henry who was mainly responsible for the Yeadon assault with a quick fire 35 and the tide began to turn.

The visitor were eventually bowled out for a total of 122 with Robinson finishing with the impeccable figures of 7-27 off 19.2 overs backed up by Ross Towler's 2/26.

In reply Keighley stuttered at first but Nick Austin ensured that all six points were safe with a disciplined 61 not out, which included an unbeaten sixth wicket stand of 57 with the evergreen Alan Broadley.

Bank Holiday Monday saw the visit of Great Horton who were no to be taken lightly as their bottom of the table status belies there ability.

The visitors got off to a steady start but their tendency to play shots meant that plenty of chances were given, leading to Keighley gradually getting the upper hand and they were dismissed for 139.

Ross Towler and Richard Robinson were in the wickets again claiming 3-27 and 3-36 respectively backed up by Nick Austin who worked hard for his 2-50.

So far this season, Keighley have not chased low totals as convincingly as they might but on this occasion, the result never looked in doubt.

Matthew Bottomley was unlucky to be trapped lbw which brought Lee Gordon to the crease and he was the cornerstone of the Keighley reply with a stylish 57. He was assisted by Paul Wilkinson who scored 38 and Richard Robinson with 28 not out.

Keighley are now looking like the team to beat and are still arguably not firing on all cylinders.

The big test comes this weekend with a visit to second placed Brighouse where a win could see Keighley move further away from the rest of the pack.
