Oakworth golfer Keith Lofthouse, who plays off 19 handicap, scored his first-ever hole in one at the weekend - after more than 40 years of trying.

Keith, a member of Bingley St Ives Golf Club, was on a trip to Morecambe Golf Club's open weekend with a party of 20 from his club - including son Mark - when he achieved his 'ace'.

He hit a 3 wood on the par three 189-yard 16th.

A former captain of Branshaw Golf Club and former member at Keighley, Keith finished second in the competition with a nett 66, just one shot behind the winner.

Keighley doubled their points total in the Bradford Scratch League's top division with a useful 8-0 home win over bottom team Calverley on Friday. They are now only a point behind Baildon and Hollins Hall, and just four behind second-placed Shipley.

In the second division, Bingley St Ives went down 7-1 at leaders Bradford Moor while Branshaw lost by the same score at Ghyll.

Bracken Ghyll head the fourth division by seven points after their half at home to Ben Rhydding on Friday, while second-placed Woodhall Hills had no match.
