HANNAH Robertshaw took the plaudits for Skipton Swimming Club at
the No Frills Meet hosted by the City of Sheffield Swim Squad at Ponds Forge last weekend.
Club swimmers got the chance to rub shoulders with Olympic swimmers like
world champion and record holder Mark Foster, Katy Sexton and bronze
medallist from Athens, David Davies, who were preparing for Commonwealth trials later in the year.
In a spectacular display of power and control, Silsden-based Robertshaw produced Skipton's best swim of the meet in the 400m individual medley when she finished a full 14 seconds faster than the national qualifying time.
She also swam a personal best of 2 mins 46.25 seconds in the 200m individual medley to secure a national qualifying time by 1.5 secs. Robertshaw now has four national times to her name.
There were also several other outstanding performances from Skipton. Jenna Chatburn, national finalist from 2004, finally secured her ticket to
the nationals by a two-second margin in the 100m breaststroke event. She narrowly missed her second national time in the 200m breaststroke by 0.3 seconds, but will swim this event again at the North Eastern District Championships.
Carolyn Haworth gained a second national time in the 100m backstroke and lowered her national time in the 200m backstroke.
Alex Belk showed a good return to form in the 100m freestyle by lowering his national time by 0.5 seconds, and made his fourth national time in the 400m individual medley. He also swam in the 100m fly event and is only 0.5 seconds off a national time.
