Colin Todd is upping his chase for

a left midfielder after capturing Danny Cadamarteri.

Todd plans to use the returning Bantams old boy in a central attacking role - and is still looking to fill the hole on the left wing.

The City boss has already missed out on top targets Bobby Petta and Stephen Hunt. And yesterday he abandoned plans for a 24-year-old that Todd described as "a diamond who needs a bit of polishing up".

Cadamarteri has the versatility to operate down either flank and could take the position if pushed, but Todd wants him to wreak havoc through the middle.

Todd said: "Once you've got a striker you have to play him in the best position. I wouldn't play Dean Windass anywhere else unless I had to and it wouldn't be fair on Danny to put him in midfield.

"He has been brought here as

competition for Dean and Andy Cooke. I wanted something different up front with a little bit of extra pace and Danny will give us that.

"He's had one or two setbacks since leaving us but he's coming back to a manager who has total faith in him and I've scooped him away from a couple of Championship clubs.

"If he can rekindle the form he showed when he was younger then we've got a really talented player on our hands. We're getting someone on board who can play at a higher level and hopefully he will be able to fulfil that with us."

City have already agreed terms with an unnamed centre half.

Details have to be finalised with his current club but the player is expected to arrive in time for the start of pre-season training.

Todd is also waiting on a call back from a Premiership manager for a left back that City want to take on loan for the campaign.
