Keighley businessman Gordon Black was also celebrating this week after being made a Commander of the British Empire in the honours list.

Mr Black, chairman of Peter Black Holdings in Keighley, has been given the CBE for services to business and charity in West Yorkshire.

He has chaired the footwear, personal care and toiletries business for 28 years. During that time sales have grown from £3 million a year to more than £200 million.

He has also been involved with charity work as a donor to local children's charities, a governor of the national Arts Educational School and a trustee of the Charlie Waller Memorial Trust, which aims to improve treatment of depression.

Mr Black said: "I feel greatly honoured and quite humble because I'm sure there are many people who have done more than me. It has also been a pleasure to be involved with the charity work, both locally and nationally."
