A woman has been warned to "prepare for prison" after a jury found her guilty of falsely imprisoning and assaulting her close friend.

The trial at Bradford Crown Court had been told how Rachel Carr, aged 22, had kept 18-year-old Emily Howard in her Nissan Micra for up to four hours before she then attacked her last July.

Carr, of Birch Lane, West Bowling had denied that she had held the teenager against her will and told the jury that she had only pushed Miss Howard, whom she described as "being like a sister" in self defence.

But it took the five men and six women under an hour to reject her claims and return their unanimous verdicts.

Adjourning sentence for a report, Judge Robert Bartfield told Carr that he regarded the offences as "very serious". He added: "Prison is absolutely inevitable. I don't wont to leave you in any doubt about that."

"Do not misunderstand me when I say you have to prepare for prison."

The trial had been told that trouble flared when Carr accused her victim of stealing her mother's valuable gold bracelet and had confronted her when she saw her walking home from work.

Miss Howard was talked into getting into the car under the pretence that she was going to be taken to see her mother to talk about the missing bracelet.

But the terrified teenager was driven around Bradford before eventually being taken to an industrial area where she was told to get out of the car. She was then assaulted by the defendant who left her bloodied in the street before driving off.

Miss Howard was seen stumbling along the road and was helped home by a member of the public before she was taken to hospital for treatment to cuts to her face.

Carr will be sentenced next month along with Yasmeen Khan, 20, of Clipstone Street, West Bowling who earlier in the trial had pleaded guilty to assaulting Miss Howard.

Carr was released on bail with the condition that she does not approach any of the prosecution witnesses.
