FOOTBALLERS are to turn out in force on Sunday in remembrance of Paul 'Tom' Storton, who tragically took his own life just over a year ago.

Paul, was knicknamed 'Tom Thumb' as a child because he was very small and he was known as Tom throughout his life.

He was fooball mad and played in the local leagues for Keighley Lifts and captained Keighley Juniors and Keighley Shamrocks. He was also a well repected member of the workforce at Harrison & Clough Ltd.

Tom mark hislife members of Keighley Shamrocks, Keighley Lifts and Harrison and Cloughs joined forces to attanve the 'Paul Storton Memorial Football Tournament' which is being held at Cougar Park on Sunday starting at 11am.

A total of 12 teams made up of ex-team mates and work colleagues will take part in the 6-a-side competition in two mini-leagues.

The top two teams in each group will go on to play off in a knockout phase.

The winners will receive a trophy bought by work colleagues that will be presented by Paul's parents, Les and Pat, who are to be guests of honour at the event.

Two charities, Airedale Hospital's Intensive Care Unit and the Special Baby Care Unit are to benfit from proceeds from the event.

"The response from players wanting to take part has been overwhelming, now we want people to come down to Cougar Park and give their support to the event," said Keighley Shamrocks secretary, Alistair Moore.

A disco is to be held throughout the afternoon to add to the entertainment.
