Yorkshire-based TRANSRENTAL have sponsored two talented young Ilkley kart drivers with a three-year contract to supply vehicles to support their campaign on becoming 2008 British Champions.

The drivers, Scott Medley and Josh White, racing for the Motorsport Solutions Team, have bagged one of the largest sponsorship support packages in the UK,

This will enable the team to transport their equipment all over the country to venues from Yeovil up to Glasgow.

"The logistical exercise of moving four competition race karts, engines, tyres, equipment and a team of mechanics presents many problems; the support package has eliminated this entirely," said Arron Skelly, Chief Race Mechanic.

The two drivers are racing in formula cadet open from 8 up to 12 year-olds. "The plan is very simple, they need three years of competition to be at the front of the grids."

Scott is currently ranked 24th in the UK and Josh 26th. Most of the higher ranked drivers are either 11 or 12 year-olds already.

Scott Medley, aged 8, is the youngest ever driver to have qualified for the Super One British Championship, and his team mate Josh White, who is 9 this month, are both from Ilkley.

They are coached by former British Kart Champion Tim Sugden, who is currently a factory driver for the Porsche team racing worldwide this year.

Mr Martin Bland, Principal owner of TRANSRENTAL said: "It is a chance to help two very talented drivers achieve their goals over the next three years and an opportunity to promote TRANSRENTAL as a national player."

TRANSRENTAL operates from branches in Leeds and Bradford at present with another to be opened in Manchester shortly.

They specialise in light commercial and car rental on short, medium, and long term hire contracts.

The business was founded 40 years ago and has recently been undergoing major re-branding with the potential of nationwide franchise operators.
