Otley'S revamped team have certainly proved the surprise package this season in the Airedale and Wharfedale League. Having missed relegation by a single point last season they now find themselves at the top of the table following their win over Rawdon on Saturday.

Australian Andrew Burke produced a tight spell of bowling as Rawdon struggled to an all out score of 136. Burke finished with 5-28 off 13 overs and was well supported by Richard Taylor with 4-38 off 12 overs.

Rawdon slumped to 17-4 before Jamie Davey effected something of a recovery with a knock of 53.

Otley openers Sam Smith (52 no) and Gary Thompson (38) steered their side to the verge of victory, a victory which came in 34 overs with six wickets in hand.

Having gone top Otley cannot rest on their laurels as there are four sides within four points of them.

Follifoot, who climbed from fourth to top last week, collapsed against some stunning bowling from Tom Hudson of North Leeds whose side had posted a score of 193. Opener Rob Winter led the run charge with a fine 81 as Follifoot's D Pattinson battled to take control with a 5-63 return.

Follifoot struggled throughout against the North Leeds bowling with Steve Wales taking 3-19 off 17 overs, Nick Richardson b 3-35 off 14 and Hudson a superb 4-5 off 2.1 overs,

Follifoot now share second place with Bilton who had the best of a drawn game with one time leaders Kirkstall.

Andy Walker continued his good form with the bat making 51 as his side totalled 217-7. Aussie Tim Sheehan also made a good contribution of 46. Kirkstall replied with 178-6 with Stuart Hudson completing a good all round performance with an unbeaten 55 having earlier taken 4-48.

Guiseley climbed out of the bottom two with victory over Beckwithshaw who had been restricted to 161-8 as Andrew Paley took 4-33 off 16 tight overs. Graeme Wolfenden (32) and Mark Ross (74) then set Guiseley on the victory trail. They won by five wickets with five overs in hand.

Burley were plunged into the bottom two having no answer to the bowling of Adel spinner Geoff Shires who took 5-15 as Burley fell for 131 in reply to Adel's 219-5. David Standring produced an excellent 62 with the bat for Adel while Tom James made a fine 46.

In bowling eight maidens in his 23 over spell Tong Park's Chander Sheikhar produced his best figures of the season with 5-49 against Green Lane who had to settle for a draw finishing on 147-8. Tong Park had made 185-8 with P Hanson top scoring with 56 and Danny Groom making 43.

In Division B Pool bounced back after suffering their first defeat last week. Simon Dart produced an excellent unbeaten 71 as Pool totalled a superb 237-8 with Richard Carlton lending support with a good knock of 46. Silsden fell for 97 as first change bowler Matthew Naylor tore through their innings with a 6-13 return.

Steeton had to play second fiddle to Calverley for whom Steve Moore and Steve Alred shared a fourth wicket stand of 130 with Moore making 103. Their side finished on 234-7 and in reply Steeton made 197-8 with opener A Howarth making 49.

Hall Park's Jamie Simpson hit 5 sixes and 7 fours in his 103 at Bardsey but it was all in vain as Bardsey wiped out their 261-6 with five wickets in hand. Victory came off the penultimate ball with Bardsey's Aussie Kiel Harvey hitting 4 sixes and 13 fours in a superb 135.

Heady days for Ben Rhydding who notched their fourth straight win against Illingworth with Wade Kilborne making 77 not out and Andrew Stoddart 41 not out after Ian Winterbottom had taken 5-68.
