Paul Tierney has joined Scottish Premier League side Livingston after failing to land a contract at Valley Parade.

The left back spent the second half of last season at City on loan from Manchester United and made 16 appearances.

But he failed to impress Bantams manager Colin Todd, who informed him that he would not be pushing for a permanent deal.

Tierney, who has been released at Old Trafford, had been linked with City's League One rivals Swindon. But instead he has opted for a move north of the border.

Meanwhile, Todd has admitted that the pain of missing out on transfer targets spurs him on.

Danny Cadamarteri's capture this week has provided the perfect pick-me-up after the

disappointment of losing Stephen Hunt.

The Irishman rejected City at the last minute following a call from his former boss Steve Coppell at Reading.

That was the second knock-back Todd had suffered in his pursuit of a left winger. Dutchman Bobby Petta, his number one target, also turned down City last month.

But Todd refuses to get downbeat at seeing the work put in arranging a deal go to waste.

He said: "That's the nature of the game sometimes and it can be frustrating. You just get on with it and start working on the next one.

"The Hunt move collapsing was very unfortunate but only

happened because it was Steve Coppell who'd worked with him before. If it had been anybody else coming in it might not have done.

"But credit to Julian Rhodes for supporting what we are trying to do. These are still not particularly easy days for the club and there is no revenue coming in at this time of the year, but he is doing all he can to back me."

l City's youth team will take part in the ADO Den Haag tournament in Holland next month.

They travel on August 4 to face the host club, FC Utrecht and Spartak Moscow in a four-team group.

Wolves are also involved in the competition.

Afterwards City will play friendlies against Fortuna Sittard and Sparta Rotterdam.
