Cowling's Nathan Wrigglesworth won Saturday's Craven and District Motor Club trial at Hagg Farm, Skipton, beating Boyd Webster and Anthony Ayrton in the expert class.

Although only a club level event, youth national title contender Nigel Crellin, from Douglas, and Robert Andrews, from Belfast, took part before heading for the British youth championship at Kettlewell on Sunday. Former top British star Harold Crawford also competed and was fourth expert. Colne's Laura Threlfall and Liversedge teacher Jill Driffield grabbed clubman awards on the easy course.

At the Bradford club's national trials championship at Kettlewell, Sam Haslam and Alexz Wigg won the Class A categories. The event at the top of Park Rash started in bright sunny weather but as the 90 riders started their third lap, torrential rain blanketed the area.

Dougie Lampkin dropped in to watch the action while in this country on what was one of his few leisure days. The Silsden rider competes in the FIM World trials championship at Sant Julia de Loria, Andorra, on Sunday. He is currently second in the standings after five rounds.
