A man and woman trapped by smoke were rescued from their flat by firefighters today.
The couple were in the living room of their upstairs flat in High Street, Wibsey, shortly after midnight when they realised smoke was filling their hallway.
They rang 999 and a fire crew from Odsal had to force entry through the front door to get to them.
Firefighters led them to safety.
They were checked by paramedics at the scene and the woman was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary for a further check-up.
The incident is believed to have been started by a faulty oil radiator, said crew manager John Senior.
He added: "There wasn’t much heat but there was lots of smoke. We could see it from outside as we arrived.
"The couple had a smoke detector that the fire service had previously fitted which shows these alarms do save lives."
