This is the moment when a man is knocked out cold with a single punch – the latest in a series of horrifying violent incidents in Bradford city centre.

CCTV footage has been released by a property owner in Ivegate following more disturbances on the street.

Police were called to Ivegate twice last weekend, but the injured party in the first incident refused to make a complaint.

Now a city centre councillor has raised concerns that alleged offenders are not being taken to court because victims are withdrawing their support for prosecutions.

Footage from the early hours of Saturday morning shows a man falling to the ground and lying flat on his back after a confrontation with another man outside Tito’s nightclub in Ivegate.

A West Yorkshire Police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of an assault on Ivegate on Saturday, December 5 at 4.17am – the injured party refused to make a complaint.”

The emergency services were called back to Ivegate to another incident just a day later, at 4.46am on Sunday, December 6.

A police spokesman said: “Police were called to reports of two injured people on Ivegate. On arrival at the scene, they found a male who had been assaulted – an investigation is ongoing – and a female who had slipped on wet ground and hit her head who was dealt with by paramedics.”

Councillor Sajawal Hussain (City, Lab) said: “The police and Bradford Council are taking these things very seriously because it’s causing unnecessary worry and anguish within the city centre, especially when more people are living in the city centre now.

“We had a neighbourhood forum meeting at the Midland Hotel last week which was specially arranged to address the concerns of city centre residents.

“The police said they are doing all they can but, when it comes to prosecutions, the police can’t take the offenders to court without any support. If the victims withdraw their support for the prosecution, it’s very difficult.

“My message to the public is please support the police and councillors and for the sake of the city centre’s peace and tranquillity, do not withdraw evidence or support for police.”
