Findel, the home shopping, education and healthcare group, will have a major distribution centre at the new Burnley Bridge business park by Junction 9 of the M65.

The company, based in Burley-in-Wharfedale, says the new development, which will create more than 120 permanent and temporary jobs, will help its growth plans.

Overall, it is estimated that the new business park will lead to 1,600 new jobs.

Work on Findel’s 213,000 sq ft warehouse is scheduled to begin this year, and it should be ready for occupation in autumn, 2010.

The 70-acre Burnley Bridge business park, which is being developed by Leeds-based property company Eshton Group, is located on the former Hepworth’s site at Pollard Moor on the outskirts of Hapton and Padiham.

James Chapman, managing director of Eshton, said: “Findel’s commitment to Burnley Bridge is tremendous news. It is a significant vote of confidence in this pioneering development, which is now open for business.

“This is a massive regeneration scheme for the Burnley region, which will have significant benefits for the local economy and community, especially in these challenging economic times.”

The £48 million business park comprises 680,000 sq ft of mixed-use employment space, including large industrial units of up to 400,000 sq ft. It is primarily seeking to attract light industrial and distribution-based businesses.

There will also be offices, a convenience retail store, creche and hotel.

Dave Sanderson, Findel’s operations director, said: “Findel are delighted to take advantage of the opportunity that the Burnley Bridge development represents to them. The location is perfect to feed its major sites in Accrington and Chadderton.

“The creation of a large custom-built warehouse will not only bring greater efficiency, but will assist the continued expansion of the group.”
