Yorkshire Water joined forces with West Yorkshire Fire and Rescue Service to stage a mock emergency rescue of a casualty from a badly-damaged car.
The demonstration, at Yorkshire Water’s headquarters in Bradford, is part of a series of health and safety events organised by the company this week.
It was held to raise awareness of the potential consequences of dangerous driving, as well as serving to showcase the vital role played by the fire service in attending vehicle accidents.
Hundreds of employees watched as the rescue team staged a rescue operation to free a Yorkshire Water worker trapped in a fire wreck.
Katy Bentley, 25, occupational health assistant at Yorkshire Water, said: “People often forget just what an amazing job fire and rescue crews do on a daily basis.
“The event not only showed the fantastic work they do, but also served to really drive home the importance of driving safely on the roads.”
