A police crackdown in the Allerton and Lower Grange areas of Bradford has been hailed as a success.

Officers in Airedale and North Bradford's Response Team Four and the North Bradford Neighbourhood Police Team joined forces to tackle the problem of thefts from vehicles.

Officers mounted high-profile patrols to disrupt known criminals through stop and searches as well as to offer advice to residents and drivers.

Officers also visited every taxi firm in the area to give crime prevention advice to drivers and staff and provide them with deterrent cards to display in the windows of their vehicles.

Sergeant Daniel Tillett, of Airedale and North Bradford Police's Response Team Four, said: "Break ins to cars and taxis in Allerton and Lower Grange have been an issue of concern for us of late and we are keen to do all we can to target and disrupt those responsible.

"We have been pleased to see vehicle crime dropped to nothing during the night of the operation which clearly had an effect in disrupting criminals.
