Police have released CCTV footage of a suspected thief who stole and killed an elderly couple’s beloved pet dog.
Jess, a collie belonging to Ronald Bisby, 77, was stolen from outside the Tesco supermarket in Cleckheaton.
The footage from outside the store, on Northgate, shows a man leading the dog away.
Police carried out inquiries across the community but the elderly collie was found dead several days later in a beck.
Police are continuing to work with the RSPCA in their investigations and are appealing for anyone who may have witnessed the incident, or seen the man with the dog between Thursday and Sunday to contact them. The suspect is white, 5ft 9ins to 6ft tall, slim, with short brown cropped hair. He was wearing a dark jacket with a motif on the chest. Anyone with any information is asked to contact police on 0845 6060606.
