Dramatic pupils highlighted the effects of climate change by taking to the stage.

Youngsters from Thorpe Primary School in Albion Road, Idle, Bradford, school worked with Bradford-based theatre group Twisting Yarn to stage interactive production The Crow Scarers.

The play follows the story of two children who travel back in time when they fall through an old mineshaft while looking at a scarecrow in a field.

Thorpe Primary youngsters produced their own props to add to the atmospheric performance, with funding from The Co-operative.

Melanie Phillips, The Co-operative’s community and campaigns manager, said: “This lively and colourful theatre workshop will hopefully inspire children at Thorpe Primary School to think about how they can help tackle climate change.”

Deputy head teacher Cathy Lynch said: “This theatre workshop will build on the work we are already doing at the school to help the environment.”
