A Keighley man who never got over his mother’s death committed suicide, an inquest heard.
Paul Lee, 52, of Parkwood Rise, drank the equivalent of seven pints of beer on February 28 and then took an overdose of three different types of medication, which led to his death.
The hearing at Bradford Coroner’s Court yesterday was told Mr Lee’s body was found by a friend the following morning.
Mr Lee’s sister, Penelope Lee, said in a statement: “Our family relationship was a close one and he never got over my mother’s death. Every year around the anniversary he would become very down.”
Recording a verdict that Mr Lee took his own life, Coroner Roger Whittaker said: “The only intention that he could have had in taking the overdose is that he would end his life and sadly he succeeded.”
