A Bradford man charged with murder clasped his hands tightly in front of him as he stood accused in the dock.
Unshaven and silver-haired James Innes, 40, of Undercliffe Street, Undercliffe, showed no other emotion during the five-minute hearing at the city’s magistrates’ court today.
He was almost inaudible as he spoke only to confirm his name, age and address.
Wearing a grey, crew-necked sweatshirt and dark trousers, Innes stared straight ahead as he was accused of murdering 62-year-old Denis Brook, who was found dead in a house in Undercliffe Street on Tuesday after paramedics who were called to the property raised the alarm.
Innes’s counsel, Kam Dhesi, made no application for bail and invited magistrates to commit Innes’s case to Bradford Crown Court.
The case, which will also include four matters of theft, has been scheduled for July 1 via video-link.
He will remain remanded in custody until then.
