Bradford’s very own Little Monets have been offered an exhibition space to show off their masterpieces.

Bosses at Saltaire’s Victoria Hall were so impressed by the children’s paintings featured recently in the Telegraph & Argus that they contacted teachers at Ley Top Primary School in Allerton and made them the offer.

About 30 pupils spent eight weeks working with community artist Sian Hodson to produce their own works of art in the style of Monet – and the outcome was a stroke of genius.

Teacher Susan Kelly says arrangements still need to be firmed up about when and how the exhibition will happen but it is exciting news.

“We’ve had an offer and we’ll let people know when it happens,” she said.

The Year 5 pupils painted landmarks of Bradford from City Hall in a blaze of orange, to the famous Cow and Calf rocks at Ilkley in calming blues and greens, and Bingley’s picturesque Five Rise Locks.

Other gems featured were the Alhambra, Cartwright Hall, Lister Mill and of course, Victoria Hall itself.

The children have been studying the life and works of Monet as part of the National Curriculum.
