A motorist has made his first appearance in court in connection with an accident involving a woman pedestrian in White Abbey Road, Bradford.

Saqib Munir, 22, of Foston Way, Fagley, appeared before Bradford Magistrates today to face a charge of dangerous driving.

The 27-year-old woman, who has not been named by police, was taken to Bradford Royal Infirmary with injuries, including a broken ankle and multiple cuts and bruises, after the incident at 6.20am on Monday.

Appearing in the dock dressed in a red T-shirt and black trousers, Munir, a Pakistani national who had been admitted to the UK on a six-month visa, spoke only to confirm his name and temporary address in Fagley which is the home of his brother and sister-in-law.

Magistrates granted Munir conditional bail to next appear before them on Thursday, August 7, after his sister-in-law Humaira Kashif provided a surety of £10,000.

The bail conditions include him living at his brother’s home, observing a curfew between 7pm and 7am and reporting to Bradford police station each day. His passport and travel documents were also confiscated by the court.
