I think the Ginger Wonderland T-shirts are a great way for City to mark the Lincoln home game.
The first league meeting at Valley Parade since the fire was always going to be a sombre occasion. The timing of it on Boxing Day only increased the poignancy.
So the plan to get fans “decking the stands with shirts of ginger” will lighten the mood – and with half the money raised from the T-shirt sales going to the Bradford Burns Unit, it ensures that nobody can overlook the cause behind it.
Nobody would attempt to make light of the terrible events that took place 22 years ago but by combining the reverence of the silence before the game in memory of the victims with the appeal of snapping up light-hearted “tribute” T-shirts for Stuart McCall and Wayne Jacobs, I think City have cleverly struck a happy medium.
And with every shirt in a generous XXL size, it sounds like mine will fit snugly.
