HEALTH chiefs are urging people to plan ahead for the summer bank holiday.

Residents in the North East and Yorkshire are being advised to use the NHS App to order repeat prescriptions and visit NHS 111 online for medical advice, ahead of the Monday 31 August bank holiday.

Dr Faisel Baig, GP and medical director for primary care at NHS North East and Yorkshire, said: "The NHS is here for you if you need us over the bank holiday weekend.

"We’re asking people in the North East and Yorkshire to ensure they’re prepared for any medicine needs and know how and where to get support and advice, if needed."

He advised requesting repeat prescriptions in advance to ensure timely collection.

Pharmacies offer advice and treatment for minor conditions such as sinusitis, sore throat, and earache.

Health advice is also available through the NHS website at nhs.uk.
