Fox’s Biscuits has been forced to apologise for “disruption” caused by alarms after being slammed on social media for driving neighbours “insane”.
Posting to the public Facebook Group ‘Batley Matters’ on July 27, a resident shared concern about a “12-hour-long” alarm sound coming from the Fox’s Biscuits factory in Batley.
The post read: “There has been a very loud alarm going off for almost 12 hours, and it doesn’t sound like it’s stopping any time soon. My young kids can’t get to sleep, and honestly, it’s giving me a headache.
“This isn’t even the first time this has happened. I understand they have a job to do, but I wish they would be mindful of the residents that live nearby.”
The post received over 50 comments, with several agreeing that the noise was driving them “insane”.
Another concerned resident wrote: “I live right next to it and I heard it from at least 9pm-2am. It was driving me insane, and I couldn’t sleep. It’s near enough every night as well.”
A spokesperson for Fox’s Biscuits apologised for the “disruption” caused by the alarm and assured that the cause had been found.
The spokesperson said: “We’ve investigated the cause of the alarm and identified the issue.
“We know this will have been frustrating for those living nearby and we’d like to apologise directly to affected residents. If residents would like to speak to someone at the site about this incident, they can contact us during office hours, or (on out-of-hours lines).
“Should residents experience any future disturbances, they can also use these contact details to report them directly to the site.”
Noise complaints can be reported to Kirklees Council on their online portal.
