KTM bike seized, rider arrested after Bradford pursuit

An unregistered motorbike was seized and its rider arrested after a police pursuit in Bradford.

Officers from West Yorkshire Police's Bradford South neighbourhood policing team were on patrol when they spotted the KTM motorcycle being ridden on Halifax Road, in the Buttershaw area.

Police said the rider failed to stop when requested to do so, prompting officers to begin a pursuit with assistance from Roads Policing Unit colleagues.

Arrest after brief pursuit

According to police, the pursuit lasted several minutes before the rider was detained.

The rider was subsequently arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

The motorcycle was also seized by officers.

Enquiries continue

West Yorkshire Police said enquiries into the incident remain ongoing.

Officers are also investigating the ownership of the motorbike, which remains in police possession.

The incident was highlighted by police as part of ongoing road safety work under the force's Operation Steerside initiative and the Vision Zero campaign, which aims to reduce deaths and serious injuries on West Yorkshire's roads.

A spokesperson said: "Whilst on patrols in West Yorkshire Police - Bradford South this unregistered KTM was seen travelling on Halifax Road. When requested to do so, the rider failed to stop and a pursuit was commenced with assistance from Roads Policing units. After a few minutes the rider was detained and arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and the bike was seized.
