THEY’RE back!

Bradford Bulls officially mark their return to the Super League after more than a decade away today when they take on Hull FC later this evening.

It was announced last October that the Bulls would be taking part in the Betfred Super League this season after climbing from 16th to 10th in the all-important IMG gradings.

'Going to hell and back'

Ahead of today’s game, the Telegraph & Argus spoke to Bradford’s MPs and a well-known face in rugby league and Bradford Bulls circles to ask how they’re feeling now the big day is upon us.

Rugby league commentator and Bradford Bulls fan, Mick Gledhill, said: “I can’t it put into words.

“I was preparing for commentary on Saturday, you work out that 4,151 days have passed since the Bradford Bulls’ last Super League game before being relegated at the end of 2014.”

He added: “To describe the journey, it’s almost like going to hell and back and I think it’s good the ascent of the rollercoaster has taken us back to heaven.

“It’s an emotional club, they’ve gone through so much hurt and trauma.”

Mr Gledhill praised CEO Jason Hirst for his involvement in taking Bulls back to the promised land and creating a sustainable club.

He said: “He’s someone who’s not always been comfortable in the limelight, but you look at what Jason Hirst has achieved.”

'Come on you Bulls!'

This was echoed by Bradford South MP Judith Cummins.

She said: “It’s great that today the Bulls are back in the Super League.

“I went to Odsal stadium yesterday and met with directors Philip and Nathan, and CEO Jason.

“We reflected on what has been a hard-fought win for the club: from fighting to get the Bulls back to their rightful home at Odsal Stadium, to fighting to get their way back into the Super League.

“I wished the team luck for their first Super League away game in Hull, and we spoke about the preparations the Bulls have been making to be 'Super League ready’, as well as the club's priorities and goals for the future.

“My prayers will be with the team, fans, and all of us anticipating a win in this first match.

“Their return feels symbolic of something larger, a renewal, a turning point, and a reminder that when it comes to Bradford, you don't rule us out because we keep fighting until we get back to the top.”

'A big boost for the city'

“Their return to the top flight is a proud moment for fans and a big boost to the city.

“I wish the players, coaching staff and everyone involved with the club every success for what promises to be an exciting season ahead.”
