A 61-year-old fundraiser walking 900 miles from Land’s End to John O’Groats has hailed Ickornshaw Moor as the most atmospheric part of her walk so far.
Harriet Thomas, who is hoping to raise £25,000 for charity Dementia Adventure, said walking through the moorland, located near the Craven village of Cowling, was "something else."
The Proclaimers have sent Ms Thomas a message of encouragement, while support has also been shared by singer Tony Christie and Emmerdale actress Sian Reeves.
Ms Thomas said of Ickornshaw Moor: "The grouse flapping their wings and loudly calling just added to the whole atmosphere, it was truly amazing.
"This part of my walk was extra special as my daughter joined me and we both enjoyed the lush countryside and beautiful villages.
"I’d love to come back one day and explore a bit more."
Ms Thomas was inspired by her mum Susan, who lived with dementia for nine years.
She is documenting her journey in a new podcast called The D Tour, which is currently in the top 25 per cent of downloaded podcasts in the UK.
It is estimated that 982,000 people live with dementia in the UK, a number expected to rise to 1.4 million by 2040.
