A WOMAN who owns a beauty salon with her daughter has said her late grandmother would be "extremely proud" - after their business made it into the final of a competition.
The Telegraph & Argus recently launched its Best Beauty Salon 2024 contest, with readers invited to share their favourite companies.
Nominations were made through our online voting platform and were then whittled down to the final 10.
One of the finalists is Allure Beauty and Aesthetics Salon on Drake Fold, Wyke, which is owned by Amanda Sutton and her daughter Chloe, who both work as therapists there.
Amanda told the T&A: "We are overwhelmed and extremely grateful to all who voted for us.
"Before my grandma passed away, her one wish was for my daughter to have her own salon.
"With her inheritance, we made this wish come true and she will be looking down on us extremely proud right now."
Amanda described doing the job alongside her daughter as "like working with my best friend".
"It's a dream come true," she added.
She said they consider many of their clients to be friends.
"We've developed close bonds with them," she added.
"Clients regularly call in for a coffee and a chat, even when they don't have appointments.
"We have one lady who can no longer drive due to health issues.
"We book extra time for her appointment so we can pick her up and take her back home after."
Nails and lash extensions are among the most popular services provided at the beauty salon.
"We are a small salon but offer everything under one roof," Amanda added.
The business is community-minded, donating gift vouchers and prizes for local fundraising events and sponsoring one of the under-12 football teams at Brighouse Juniors.
Don't miss out on your chance to shout up for your favourite beauty salon as part of our competition.
It really couldn't be simpler to vote for the business you think should win.
All you need to do is fill out the voting form, which can be found in the T&A.
The voting coupon will run in the newspaper until October 12, so there is plenty of opportunity to make sure the beauty salon you think is the best is in with a chance of taking the top spot.
