A MAN who was caught with a knife and adapted belt with nails in on a street in Bradford has breached his order again.
Richard Karolick, 28, of Canterbury Avenue, Bradford was sentenced at Bradford and Keighley Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday for failing to comply with the requirements of a community order.
He was originally handed a community order on February 27 this year at Kirklees Magistrates’ Court for three offences.
Karolick was caught in Great Horton Road on December 9 last year carrying a knife, with a cutting edge that exceeded three inches, and an “adapted male’s belt with nails in”, according to court records.
The 28-year-old was also in possession of a quantity of methylamphetamine - a controlled Class A drug.
The community order included a requirement to complete unpaid work and Rehabilitation Activity Requirement (RAR) days.
But Karolick failed to attend an RAR office appointment on July 18 and just five days later did not turn up for community service, according to court records.
He did not provide “acceptable evidence or explanation” within five working days of the missed appointments.
Karolick was handed an 18-week prison sentence, suspended for a year.
It means if he commits an offence within the next 12 months, he could be sent to jail for 18 weeks, as well as any extra time depending on the crime and how the court deals with it.
The suspended sentence also includes a number of requirements.
These are to complete up to 20 RAR days and 100 hours of unpaid work.
Karolick has already appeared before the courts for breaching his original community order, which has now been set aside, and replaced by the suspended sentence.
He was fined £100 on June 28 for failing to attend two unpaid work appointments, on April 9 and May 7.
The court decided the community order should continue at that point though.
