THE furore over the Oasis reunion tickets has prompted some music fans to remember when we actually queued up - in person - for tickets to see bands.
Fans have been shocked by the high prices of standard tickets for the Oasis 2025 tour, and many were left angry and disappointed after being left empty-handed, having waited in an online ticket queue for hours.
Online sales have revolutionised ticketing and the days of queuing down the street and around the corner to hand over cash at a ticket office are long gone.
But back in 1980, hundreds of fans did just that in Bradford. Pictured is the long queue to buy tickets for rock supergroup Genesis at St George's Hall. In January that year, a line of fans surrounded the venue, and the former Telegraph & Argus building on Hall Ings, waiting for the box office to open. Many fans spent the night sleeping on pavements and in car parks. It was all worth it, for the lucky ones who got tickets, when Genesis played to almost 2,000 happy fans.
