THE daughter of a much-loved Bradford man has paid tribute to her dad.

Michael Pascal, affectionately known as Muppett, sadly died while performing at an open mic session in Shipley pub The Fox last month.

The community figure, who helped raise thousands of pounds for charities over the years, suffered a fatal heart attack.

Gemma Flear has paid a touching tribute to her father.

She said: "Muppett, Michael, dad, was known and loved by many and was a bit of a legend in his own right.

"Unfortunately he died way too soon but was doing something he loved, singing in a pub.

"He loved walking and also singing his comical song.

"He was the best father, stepfather, and grandad, that anyone could have asked for."

Gemma said her father was well-known across the district.

She said her father did not want a funeral so a celebration of his life is to be held instead.

This will be held at the Coopers Bar and Kitchen in Guiseley on Saturday, September 14 from 4pm until late.

Gemma added: "We have decided that on the night to auction off five of his songbooks that he had written.

"There will also be a chance to pick up one of his many walking books and maps for a small donation.

"All money will be going to the Children's Liver Disease Foundation and DalesBus as they both meant a lot to him.

"There'll be a chance to reflect on his life and have a sing-around where we can sing along to some of his much-loved silly songs so please bring your instruments along.

"Bright colours, shorts and crocs optional."

The Telegraph & Argus opened a Book of Condolence at the time of Muppett's passing and we were inundated with responses from readers.

Dr John Samuel said: "He was a modest man, engaging and a phenomenal philanthropist and community activist. He always seemed to have time for everybody."

Joy Crampton added: "A funny, imaginative, caring and hardworking man. He was so helpful, raising thousands of pounds for charity, promoting music and local countryside, and helping community groups. In his shorts and crocs. A light has gone out in the world, he is missed. RIP my friend, it was so good to know you."

James Connell said: "I met Muppett many times over 30 plus years in Bradford's Folk Music pubs and further afield at festivals, he was simply one of the nicest people I've ever met."
