A FAMILY-run business selling award-winning pies has made it into the final of a contest run by the Telegraph & Argus.
The T&A recently launched its Best Bakery 2024 competition, with readers invited to share their favourite businesses.
Nominations were made through our online voting platform and they have now been whittled down to the final 10.
Today we are highlighting Robertshaw's Farm Shop, which opened its bakery on Brighouse Road in 2020.
Owner James Robertshaw said: "It is an honour to have made it into the top 10.
"It is great to think that our customers appreciate us enough to go out of their way and vote for us."
James shared why he thought his business had made it into the final of the contest.
"We are all about people and we put our team, customers and suppliers first," he said.
"Although we have only had the bakery for a few years, Robertshaw's is a long-running family business with great values.
"We use the best quality, local ingredients and we keep it in the community.
"Our bakery uses milk, eggs and many other ingredients from local farmers.
"We keep our prices reasonable and the meals in our bakery café are great value for money.
"Our customers like the viewing window in our bakery as this lets them see what is going on behind the scenes."
James said his business does a lot for charities and sports teams in the area.
"We support them where we can with raffle prizes, sponsorship of events, and even platters for the kids to enjoy after their games," he added.
"All our food waste goes to Cafe West in Allerton, a healthy living centre promoting health and well-being in the local community."
So what is the bakery's most popular item?
"Our award-winning pies are loved by many of our customers," James said.
"Our bakery supplies our farm shop with a range of freshly-made pies and it keeps our bakers very busy as they are so popular."
Don't miss out on your chance to vote for the bakery you think should win.
All you need to do is fill out the voting form, which can be found in the T&A.
The voting coupon will run in the newspaper until September 14, so there is plenty of opportunity to make sure the bakery you think is the best is in with a chance of taking the top spot.
